Have you seen Black Swan yet? Kinda weird. Kinda fabulous. We just loved the amazing costumes and makeup. It also took us back in the day to pink tutus and ballet class. And Pure Barre does the same!
Where else can you channel your inner-ballerina, get centered, blow off wedding planning steam, stretch, and build killer muscles for your strapless dress all at once? Allow us to introduce you to Pure Barre, a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs and burns fat in record-breaking time. Utilizing the ballet barre to perform small isometric movements, Pure Barre is a fast, effective, and safe way to change your body. A nationwide phenomenon, Pure Barre only recently arrived on the Austin landscape. And boy have they. Dancers, former-dancers and non-dancers (ahem!) alike are flocking to for ultra-toning, super-fun group fitness.
Fearless leader and owner of Pure Barre Austin, Roshanna Moss-Lowry gave us the skinny on what as quickly become one of the hottest new workouts in town. Now, her answers to all your burning questions!
Q: Is Pure Barre a good option for the bride-to-be?
Absolutely! Pure Barre is a quick 55-minute, full body workout. We work the inches to lift, tone and burn and fitting into your gown is all about the inches. We work your muscles to fatigue and then stretch them to create long, lean, feminine muscles…the perfect look that every bride wants without the strain on your body.
Q: How does Pure Barre help with toning & sculpting the arms for strapless dresses?
We work all the muscles in the arms – biceps, triceps, forearms, and shoulders. We burn each muscle in the most efficient ways to sculpt and tone your arms. We spend ample time on each muscle group to maximize the workout.
Q: For the busy bride, how many classes a week are recommended? And how far in advance of wedding day should a bride begin the Pure Barre workouts, in order to see improvements?
Classes only last 55 min, so you can get in and out fast while reaping the benefits of a full body workout. We recommend at least 3 classes per week, but the more the better. Expect to see results after only 10 classes. We recommend that a bride starts taking classes as soon as they know their wedding date. It also depends on their goals and how many inches they are trying to lose.
Q: When it comes to a wedding workout routine, what mistakes are commonly made?
One of the big mistakes that brides make in their workout routine is working too hard. Women assume that pounding their bodies and not eating is the way to go, which is so far from the truth. Make your body work for you and fuel it frequently with the right food. That’s what we like about pure barre…it’s intelligent exercise that promotes an efficient body.
Q: Parting thoughts?
Take advantage of the motivation you have to be your best during the engagement period. Establish your goals early on and make it a lifestyle change. This rids you of the pressure and stress to be perfect before your wedding. The stress alone can pack on the pounds, so make the point to establish a workout routine that is practical and enjoy yourself!
The spring wedding countdown is on!
