Hello BZ blog faithful. I’m Gray Allen — the newest member of the BZ events team, as well as a new member of the Austin community, and I am so excited to be here! Becky and Cortney wanted me to introduce myself… So what better way than the blog?!
Last week was my first week in Austin, and it was fabulous! After an extremely long drive from Georgia, I took my first couple days in Austin to get settled in and rest up. After way too many Target runs, I found the opportunity to enjoy a girls’ night at Z’Tejas with a couple of college friends, as well as some new Austin ones. Now let me tell you, as a born-and-bred Southern girl, I have consumed more than my fair share of cornbread, but I have never tasted anything as delicious as the cornbread they bring you to start off the meal!

Then came my very first week with BZ events. This included quite a few floral and decor meetings, visits to Mercury Hall, Flat Creek, Villa Antonia, and a fun NEAWP lunch where I met some of Austin’s best wedding professionals. Becky even introduced me to my first Torchy’s Taco! Yum Yum!

Needless to say I plunged headfirst into the Austin wedding world and enjoyed every minute of it! After such a hectic week, I spent the weekend indulging in a couple of margaritas and some live music on SoCo (I’m already picking up a little local lingo!) and even waited in line for an hour at the IMAX theater to see the new Alice in Wonderland on Sunday!
Thanks all to you Austinites for making my first week here so wonderful! I can’t wait to get to know Austin even better in the future and assist BZ with some spectacular weddings this spring. Stop by the BZ office and say hi! And let me know if you have any advice or favorite spots I should know about!
